As a parent, planning a
birthday party should be fun, as should the execution and event. In today’s marketplace, there are many
companies that offer events and theme parties for young girls. But the market for companies hosting
birthday parties for boys isn’t as robust. Often, a parent must get a bit creative in planning and
finding ways to execute a son’s wishes or a great idea.
Many parts of childhood have
changed over the years—televisions in every room, children with personal cell
phones or smart devices, reading on a tablet versus a book. But one thing hasn’t changed, the love
and importance of sports in a boy’s life.
The sports may range from baseball to golf to extreme sports. Picking a theme may prove tough. By planning your party at an amusement
center, not only are you removing some of the planning burden, but ensuring a
wide offering of games and attractions.
For a child who is a racing
enthusiast, finding a center with go-karts, can create a race car driver themed
party for the special boy and his friends. Sending race car themed invites, race car decorations and
favors and of course a race car cake will complete the day. Another perk to such a party theme is
that most amusement centers have an arcade with indoor car racing video
games. This can be a great back up
plan if inclement weather prevents use of the go-karts.
A day at the batting cages is
great for a baseball enthusiast and his fellow teammates and friends. Baseball themes are easy to come by and
most amusement centers allow for the cages to be rented for specific
times. This allows for all guests
to have a fair chance to hit one out of the park. Again baseball themed invites, favors, decorations and cake
round out the day’s event. Apply
the same for a golf fan; time on the mini golf course with appropriate party
accoutrement is a guaranteed hole in one.
If the birthday boy is a
video game or virtual game enthusiast, truly bring his sense of gaming to life
with a laser tag party. The party
guests can be broken up into opposing teams to see who wins the battle of
mazes, lasers, agility and cunning.
After running through the obstacle course, they can compare real life
with a session in the arcade.
For older boys or those with
a love of extreme sports, find an amusement center with attractions such as
go-karts and laser tag, but also rock climbing. Take it up a notch by finding a park with an aqua wall, a
rock wall with water features such as misters or a waterfall. Of course, be sure to talk with the
guests’ parents and park staff to make sure that everyone will be able to
participate in these events, especially the rock and aqua walls, as they usually
have a minimum weight requirement.
Regardless of the sport
theme, no birthday party for boys is complete without great food, drink and a chance to
sing happy birthday. For a party
with boys who’ve just exerted energy across the park, make sure there is an
unlimited buffet, but not so much that there isn’t room for cake and ice
cream!
